Our Story
Three decades of California emergency care
Mercy Medical Transportation, Inc. was founded in 1994 with a straightforward purpose: to bring dependable, paramedic-level emergency care to communities that need it most — including the suburban, rural, and wilderness corners of California that are often hardest to reach.
Over three decades, that mission has grown alongside the communities we serve. What began as a commitment to quality paramedic response has become a proven record of professional care and strong, cooperative relationships with the fire departments and public agencies we work beside.
Today, Mercy is the exclusive contracted provider of ALS 9-1-1 ambulance services for the entirety of Mariposa and Tuolumne counties, and also serves San Diego County. Whether responding through the 9-1-1 system, transporting patients between facilities, or standing by at community events, the standard stays the same on every call.
What Guides Us
Values behind every response
Patients First
Every decision starts with the person in our care. We aim to treat each patient with dignity, compassion, and respect from the first moment on scene.
Safety in Everything
Safe care depends on preparation. We hold ourselves to careful, professional standards for our crews, our equipment, and the people we transport.
Community Partnership
We do our best work alongside the communities we serve. Strong, cooperative relationships with local fire departments and public agencies help us respond as one coordinated team.
Levels of Care
The care we provide
From 9-1-1 emergency response to specialized transfers, Mercy crews are equipped to match the level of care each patient needs.
Advanced Life Support
Paramedic-level emergency care delivered at the scene and en route. Advanced Life Support brings advanced assessment and interventions to critically ill or injured patients on the way to definitive care.
Basic Life Support
EMT-level care and medically supervised transport for patients who do not require advanced interventions. BLS crews provide steady monitoring and comfortable, professional transport.
Critical Care Transport
Facility-to-facility transfers for patients who need a higher level of monitoring and care during the trip, above the standard ambulance level.
